Amy Butler Feature, Part 1

Hello all! Today is part one of the feature I am doing on artist Amy Butler. I first want to simply show you a few photos of her home and studio -- I think you can tell so much about a person by the environments they create around themselves -- and then next post Part 2 will tell you more about Amy, her company, and showcase some of her products.

If you can't wait for the next post, check out the above link to her website...

After seeing these photos of Amy's workspace and home, I'm fairly convinced we were separated at birth.  I love her aesthetic, and it matches the one I strive for in my own home...a mix of antique/vintage/modern/industrial + bold pattern and color.  Does anyone have an actual name for this style?  I was so inspired by these photos and hope you are too...

Amy Butler's Home @ Christmas

These are photos of artist/fabric designer Amy Butler's home, all decked out for Christmas in a palette of turquoise, lime, and blues.  Click on any picture to enlarge it in a new window.  Photos from the December 2008 issue of Mary Engelbreit's Home Companion.  More on the fabulous Amy Butler tomorrow...

I especially love these cone topiaries, covered in polka-dot ribbon.
I think these would make great decor any time of year...

Thursday Bonus

I can't believe I haven't blogged any Christmas stuff yet!  I've been pouring over magazines and blogs and there is so much out there to feature, but here's just one for today....

Hope you can see detail in the photo {click on photo to enlarge}, but the tree topper is a streamer-covered disco ball suspended from the ceiling.
This would be a fun decor-direction to go if you're planning to host a New Year's Eve party...
a whole house in white, blues, turquoise and silver disco ball ornaments
{seeing those all over the place this year} would be too chic!

Eye Candy

The hues in this kitchen make my design heart smile...

I would love to work in this office...I'm really enjoying this mix of traditional and modern, and the colors are perfect

This is a great bathroom!  Perfect shade of pink on the wall, ADORE the tiles -- they just make it -- and the accessories are spot on.  This would be fun...too many boys in my house though, so until I get a private bath of my own, I'll have to come back to this photo and enjoy it at a distance...

Shabby Chic-a-riffic!

It's been too long! Life is a blur between baby boy and holidays.

Here are a few finds from Rachel Ashwell's Shabby Chic store. And here is a link for her blog, if you don't follow it already.

I love these world war II era reprints {visit RA's blog for background info}...
I see them everywhere these days {except in my house!  what gives?!}.
Also available in red and gold, but the blue is my favorite!

A cute little pouf from her childrens/baby line...adorable!

My kind of welcome...

I love this crown...I saw it in a Christmas magazine this month -- wish I could remember which one --  being used as a topper on a glorious tree.  I was wondering where they had found it...

Maybe if I think long enough, I can find enough room for this piece in my house...LOVE!!
These vases would make great gifts

Is my current obsession with crowns showing yet?

This is THE console...just the one I want for my dining room,
and I've been hunting for a long time.  Honey, are you reading?? ;o)
